Encore is the annual anthology of the top winning poems from 50 contests sponsored by the National Federation of State Poetry Societies. From more than 7,000 submissions, this diverse 2016 collection represents 23 states, Canada and the United Kingdom. These poems answer the challenge of contests specifying forms—from dorsimbra to sonnet, from pantoum to tanka to villanelle. They also give fresh interpretations to contest themes such as peace, heritage, 2016 U.S. politics, American Indians, and poetry for children. The result is a poetic kaleidoscope, rich in imagination and musicality, skill and spirit.
